J&k police public school organized a guest lecture cum interactive session on the topic “social media and mental health”. The resource person was Dr. Rajinder Kumar , consultant psychiatrist, Sankalp manarog clinic and pulse hospital jammu. coordinators ms. Renu Khurdi, ms Malti Adhikari , HM primary wing Anju sharma, school staff , school counsellor Miss Nishu jangral , and the students of 11th and 12th class attended the session. Mr Rajeev sharma Principal Jkpps warmly welcomed the resource person and introduced him to the audience. The aim of this session is to aware the students about the abuse of social media and it’s effects on mental health of adolescents and young adults. Dr Rajinder Kumar aware the students that the use of social media significantly impacts mental health. It can enhance connection, increase self-esteem, and improve a sense of belonging. But it can also lead to tremendous stress, pressure to compare oneself to others, and increased sadness and isolation. The effects of social media addiction include anxiety or depression, increased isolation, decreased physical activity, low self-esteem, and poor work or school performance. At last Dr. Kumar guide the students Mindful use is essential to social media consumption and to control this habit to Make a time limit and stick to it, Propose a social media vacation, Encouraged face-to-face contact with friends and the most important one is the book reading 📖 .
