Plantation drive held at Police Public School Miran Sahib
Chairperson PWWA & Police Public Schools Dr. Rubinder Kaur inaugurates the drive
SRINAGAR, JULY 29: A plantation drive was organised in Police Public School Miran Sahib Jammu today. The drive was inaugurated by Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) and Jammu and Kashmir Police Public Schools Dr. Rubinder Kaur by planting a Sandal plant.
The aim of the drive was to educate the students about the importance of environment protection and the role of trees. They were made aware of the impact of global warming and merits of the plantation.
IGP Armed Jammu Shri Danesh Rana, PWWA members Mrs. Shabnam Mir and Mrs Suma Sinha also participate in the plantation drive.
Dr. Rubinder Kaur interacted with the students and discussed the objectives of plantation drive. The drive was coordinated by CO JKAP 8th battalion Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma. 300 fruit and flower plants were planted in and outer periphery of the school during the drive. Special plants and rare variety of Santalum and Chandan were planted on the occasion. Fruit plants Guava, Peach, Lichi, Locart and Chikoo were also planted during the drive.
Forest department Jammu provided the plants.
Divisional Forest Officer City Urban Jammu Shri Sunil Manhas delivered a lecture to the students on the importance of trees on the planet. Forest staff members gave demonstration of different kinds of plants on the occasion.
Mementoes were also presented to Chairperson PWWA and DFO City Urban. Principal Police Public School Mrs. Renuka Guleria, Chief Coordinator DPS Jammu Shri Umesh Kumar Sharma and Dy SP Ritesh Sambyal were also present during the drive.
